Updated: Jul 17, 2023

Voice. An instrument that everyone has at their disposal since the day they are born. A musical instrument that is used daily, from the very first cry. Singing lessons are for everyone regardless of age. Singing lessons are for people that want to learn how to sing but also for people that want to improve their voice.

But what are the reasons to start singing lessons beyond just learning to sing?

  1. self confidence singing lessons boost your confidence. From the first lesson, you have to sing in front of your teachers and later on in front of an audience. As a singer you will often be the centre of attention, not just for your singing abilities, but also for your performance. Through this journey you will acquire self-confidence, a characteristic that many people consider the most important and attractive quality in a person.

  2. you learn to speak correctly correct use of the vocal cords is many times taken for granted, but it is not. The vocal cords can be damaged due to misuse, for instance when a person screams, which can lead to serious problems. By taking voice lessons which include orthophonic exercises, you learn how to properly use your vocal cords while you are singing but also in your everyday life.

  3. correct breathing technique when a baby cries for the first, is uses its diaphragm correctly, since this is the correct, natural way of breathing. Growing up, due to stress, constant worrying and other factors, the way of breathing changes, becomes shallower and less satisfying. Voice lessons restore the ability of diaphragmatic breathing, which allows for controlled voice use, greater volume and longer duration in singing. In everyday life, diaphragmatic breathing reduces anxiety, the feeling of shortness of breath and is more effective in oxygenating the body and eliminating carbon dioxide.

  4. correct posture singing requires proper breathing and to do this, proper posture must be cultivated. With the correct posture, you give space to the lungs to fill with air which helps your singing. In the class, correct posture is worked on continuously and as a result the body maintains it even after the class. Correct body posture brings many benefits to our health in general since our vital organs have enough space to function properly.

  5. socialization socialization comes with the confidence you gain through singing but also the ability to sing in front of an audience, friends, family. Learning how to sing gives you the opportunity to sing at outings, with your friends, at school, circumstances that make you more sociable. Studying at our school, you have the opportunity to socialize through activities we organise, such as the choir, group concerts and rehearsals with other members of our school.

  6. means of expression singing allows you to express yourself creatively. In joys and sorrows. By learning to sing you will be able to express your deepest feelings, even if they are not expressed through words. This helps to fight stress and it is a way out of the hectic everyday life.

  7. acquiring patience and perseverance with the help of your teachers, you won't give up once you encounter the first difficulty. In contrast, you will learn ways to overcome such difficulties, you will learn to be disciplined and with patience and perseverance you will proceed towards the completion of your goals. Often, to perfect a song you must have the discipline and the will to do it. There are changes that will be observed after years of lessons. Your voice is a musical instrument that gives you the chance to constantly discover new things: your personal and vocal limits, even your taste in music.

  8. career singing lessons are a necessity if you want to have a career in singing. Even accomplished singers continue to take voice lessons to cultivate their voice and continue to develop it. Whether you dream of a solo career or playing in small bars, singing is the way to go. Learning to sing gives you the freedom to turn each song into something completely different and allows for improvisation.

  9. you learn to accept criticism better the way to learn something new is through constructive criticism and constant feedback that aim towards the improvement of the current situation. By having singing lessons, you don't only learn to accept criticism but also how to use it in order to self-improve, an element that is necessary for life. Common positive impact of all musical instruments.

  10. initiatives by learning to sing properly you gain the ability to improvise and the ability to "make a song your own". To achieve this, you must (gradually) take initiatives in class. To bring out your potential as a performer, you may need to look at a song from a different perspective and modify it a bit. This is done with the guidance of your teachers and through your own initiatives.
